Mizzou Athletics currently sponsors 18 intercollegiate athletic teams and is a proud member of the Southeastern Conference. Mizzou Athletic Training has a very robust and comprehensive sports medicine team, who are big proponents and educators of hydration, nutrition, recovery and regeneration and the importance of sleep. Our team is made up of:

  • 11 team physicians of all specialties, with strong backgrounds in sports medicine training
  • 20 staff athletic trainers
  • 88 undergraduate athletic training students, physical therapists, massage therapists, nutritionists, counseling psychologists and chiropractic physicians
  • Several other allied healthcare professionals

Our past services, although efficient and comprehensive throughout seven campus athletic training facilities, lacked in the areas of recovery.

I am confident our personnel are well-trained professionals who share our common vision and goal to provide the best possible athletic healthcare for Mizzou student-athletes. The opportunity to add state-of-the-art technology, with the addition of two cryotherapy saunas, furthers the mission.

 Why did you decide to partner with Impact Cryotherapy?

Impact Cryotherapy is widely regarded as an industry leader in cryotherapy technology. Their interest in, and support of, Mizzou Athletic Training helped to solidify my decision to partner with Impact.

How has cryotherapy been received by your athletes?

I have said many times since our Impact Cryotherapy chambers were installed a few months ago, the biggest proponents and advocates for their use are our student-athletes. The efficiency of the treatment, coupled with the invigorating experience, keeps Mizzou student-athletes coming back as often as possible, post-workout.

Why do your athletes utilize cryotherapy?

From a sheer numbers standpoint, our football players are the greatest “users”, although all teams are welcome. Also, since almost ALL team sports train year-round with very little “down time”, our Impact cryotherapy chamber has become a part of regular routines, regardless if it’s part of their off-season or in-season training regimen.
