2017’s Top Wellness Trends

The new year brings new wellness trends, but don’t worry, you’ll find that several 2016 favorites remain at the top in the world of wellness.

  • HIIT

    Aka “high-intensity interval training,” which has been a popular workout in recent years, will take the stage once again 2017. This style if workout is appealing because it requires no equipment, it can be done almost anywhere AND it helps participants burn a lot of calories- very quickly. HIIT sessions consist of several bursts of very intense exercise followed by short periods of rest. These workouts are typically completed in 30-minutes or less.

  • Wearable Technology

    Once again, Fitbits (Apple watches, Garmin bands, and all brand fitness & GPS trackers/ heart rate monitors) are in. In fact, wearable tech is so popular that it made the number 1 spot on the ACSM’s Top Fitness Trends for 2017.

  • Hygge

    Pronounced “HOO-gah”, made its way on the well-being radar this past fall and is projected to remain relevant this year. This Danish, lifestyle buzzword describes the overwhelming feeling or mood that arrives when you enjoy life’s ordinary moments. In a fast-paced world that is filled with instant gratification, it’s important (and healthy!) to stop and find pleasure in the little things.

  • Cryotherapy

    This new-age therapy puts a cool spin on the traditional ice bath. Participants step into an octagon-shaped Cryosauna that fills with nitrogen vapor and drops the ambient temperature inside to a range of -90 degrees Celsius to -120 degrees Celsius. This 3-minute experience is great for almost anyone, including elite athletes, busy-bodies and weekend warriors!
